Replica testingOverview
In-situ metallography lets us examine the microstructure of a component where it stands, without cutting a sample. We prepare and etch a small area and take a replica for microscopic study.
It shows whether the microstructure still meets industrial standards, and is a key input to remaining life assessment of high-temperature equipment.
What it finds
- Creep cavitation
- Spheroidisation and graphitisation
- Grain growth and overheating
- Microcracks
Where we use it
- Boiler headers and steam lines
- Turbine casings and high-temperature piping
- Reformer and furnace tubes
- Failure investigations
